Ponecry 2 - Smuggler's cache

"Getting them in is easy. I fly them over the mountains, through the desert. Hell, I teleport them. The hard part is moving them inside the land. You don't want to be caught with hot items. Whenever you get caught you got to bribe somepony or cook somepony. Not good for business. Once you're inside, you want to loose the stuff as fast as possible. Make the deal. Ask no questions. Go. Let the customer deal with it."

<"How do they move a shipment?">

"Made a deal with Bapentui a couple months back. Looking to move several hundred units of gris-gris, talismans. Came with a couple dozen of his tribesmen. Dead tribesmen. Smart zebra. Hand him that. No one would search a corpse."

<"Where do you get the talismans?">

"It's a romantic notion I get them from some dissident shaman. Or they're released from the Griffons after the Volden family collapsed. But that was a windfall forty years back, maybe twenty. But that's all over.

"I move talismans. I profit from circulation. Ceasefire somewhere? Both sides need to liquidate their magical assets? No one's going to grind them up. Ponies like me get them at bargain bin prices. No one simply slides two-hundred tons of weapons. I get them. I resell them to whoever wants them."

<"Some of these spears, these swords, these gris-gris. They're over seventy years old.">

"Ugh. That's about half. The rest just come from the Equestrian Guard. Or my home. After they began liquidating their independent units and consolidated. Or what's left of Sombra's library."

<"So some of these are very old? Bought. Sold. And bought again.">

"Huhahaha. They're not biodegradable. Only dead ponies are biodegradable."

<"Why magical weapons? Why not carriage parts? Ships? Books?">

"What's the difference? Same job really. You get up, you meet the client. You make a fair price. Make a delivery. Receive payment. Sounds boring. But it's not. It's just simple.

"I'm doing what ponies have been doing for thousands of years. Since before Celestia and Luna. Since before me. Before the Crystal Empire. Trading one thing for another. And you want to attach morality to it? Make it evil? Insane, ponies have been doing that for too long. It's only made things worse.

"Those unicorns that make these in Canterlot, Manehatten. They're unionized. They're paid. They've been doing this for generations. Do you think they're going to attach good and evil to their livelihood? Insane. It's the same as The Guard - or your own tribal warriors - justifying their jobs.

"And whose going to let go of forty grand a week? I've seen your kind kill to wish to make that much.

"You start thinking too much about morality... That's insane..."
